Richard Dix and Julie Carter as Wing Foot and Corn Blossom in Redskin, 1929
Redskin was the last silent film released by Paramount, and told the story of a Native American man (played by non-Native Richard Dix) brought up in “the white man’s world” and the prejudice he faces on both sides due to his race and background. The scenes of Navajo life are shown in 2-strip Technicolor, while life at the all-white school was filmed in black and white. This was more by accident than by choice, but provides an interesting contrast within the movie.
